MI Work! Helps residents in Northwest Michigan to obtain employment and to improve their skills for higher employment. They have relationships with many employers and with local education services (i.e. NCMC).

Some of their employment services include local job listings in the office, an employment café (space with internet and computers), and specialized assistance for formerly incarcerated, veterans, and those interested in agricultural work. They also have a direct phone line to the unemployment office to allow for faster application processing.

Some of their educational programs through the learning lab include: lessons to improve reading, math, writing, computer literacy, employability, ESL, GED test prep, high school completion (diploma), and college prep. The large majority of classes are free and self-guided with one-on-one training from teachers. MI Works! can also help individuals obtain cost waivers for GED testing.They have other educational programs such as CNC Programming program, must inquire within the organization.

Eligibility Criteria: MI Works! will work with any individual 18+ for employment and 20+ for education services. Those younger will be matched with a youth advisor.
