"We help people with disabilities and their families lead more productive lives in Northern Lower Michigan. But our efforts don’t just benefit them. They help everyone, with and without disabilities, who lives in, works in, or passes through our community. It’s our mission to promote personal empowerment and positive social change for people with disabilities."
The Disability Network has a variety of programs and supports for individuals living with disabilities. Their main program is a form of case management. Referred individuals will meet with an advocate who will help the individual navigate the governmental and other systems of support. The advocate will help individuals understand Social Security, how to get a job, connect them with resources in their community, and assist with goal setting. The program does not have money to give away to individuals but they can help them obtain it from other local resources. Also there is no need for any documentation of disability to receive services. They also have a few group sessions across Northern Michigan.
